Pyramids were constructed as tombs for the pharaohs, designed to ensure their journey into the afterlife. The most famous of these is the Great Pyramid of Giza, built for Pharaoh Khufu around 2600 BC. Historians and archaeologists believe that thousands of skilled workers, including stonecutters, engineers, and laborers, worked tirelessly for decades to complete each pyramid. Unlike the common misconception that slaves built the pyramids, modern research suggests that these workers were well-fed, lived in nearby villages, and took great pride in their work.

This coloring page allows you to imagine the daily life of these ancient builders. They used copper chisels and wooden sleds to carve and transport massive limestone and granite blocks. Some workers were responsible for measuring and aligning the stones, ensuring that each one fit perfectly into the structure. The process required incredible organization, with teams of workers collaborating under the supervision of skilled architects.

Coloring this scene offers an opportunity to appreciate the scale and complexity of pyramid construction. The fine details of the workers’ clothing, tools, and surroundings add depth to the historical setting. You can use shades of brown and beige for the stone blocks, soft blues for the sky, and earthy tones for the workers’ garments.
