Pepe The Frog Meme

This Pepe the Frog coloring page features the famous internet meme character relaxing on a park bench. With his large eyes, wide mouth, and instantly recognizable expression, Pepe makes a fun subject for anyone looking for something a little different to color.

The drawing places Pepe in a peaceful outdoor setting surrounded by trees, plants, and a winding path. There is plenty of open space on the main character, while the background provides smaller details for anyone who enjoys spending more time on a coloring page.

Pepe is usually shown as a green frog, but there is no reason you have to stick with the familiar look. You can recreate the classic Pepe meme colors or give him a completely new appearance.

Who Is Pepe the Frog?

Pepe the Frog was created by American artist Matt Furie and first appeared in his comic Boy’s Club in 2005. The character was originally one of several friends featured in the comic and was not created specifically as an internet meme.

That changed as images of Pepe began appearing online. One panel showing Pepe using the phrase “feels good man” became especially popular and helped introduce the character to a much larger audience.

Over time, people began changing Pepe’s expression, adding new captions, and placing him in different situations. This resulted in countless versions of the character being shared across forums and social media.

Today, Pepe is one of the best-known characters from internet meme culture.

From Comic Character to Famous Meme

One reason Pepe became such a successful meme is the simplicity of his face. Small changes to his eyes, mouth, or expression can completely change the mood of an image.

Pepe has appeared happy, sad, angry, excited, tired, confused, and everything in between. Different versions became known by names such as Sad Frog and Smug Frog, while countless other Pepe drawings were created by internet users.

The character became less about one particular joke and more like a blank canvas that people could change to fit different situations.

That makes Pepe especially well suited to a coloring page. His simple design is easy to recognize, but there is still plenty of freedom to create your own version.

A Relaxed Pepe the Frog Drawing

Our Pepe the Frog drawing shows a calmer side of the famous meme character. Rather than reacting to something online, Pepe is sitting quietly on a bench in a leafy park.

The large character gives younger colorists plenty of easy areas to fill, including his shirt, trousers, face, hands, and shoes. More detailed sections can be found in the surrounding trees, bushes, leaves, bench, and pathway.

You could use different shades of green for Pepe's face and hands, then choose almost any colors for his clothing. The park setting also gives you plenty of choices, with different greens and browns for the trees alongside brighter colors for flowers and plants.

What Color Is Pepe the Frog?

The classic Pepe the Frog is usually green, with darker outlines around his face and large eyes. His clothing changes depending on the meme, drawing, or artwork in which he appears.

However, internet artists have created Pepe in almost every color imaginable.

For this coloring page, you can stay close to the classic green Pepe or create your own meme version. A blue, red, purple, yellow, or multicolored Pepe would give the drawing a very different look.

The simple clothing in this scene also provides room for custom designs. You could add patterns, stripes, words, or small drawings to Pepe's shirt before coloring it.

Why Pepe Became an Internet Icon

Few meme characters have lasted as long as Pepe the Frog. Internet trends often disappear quickly, yet Pepe has continued to appear in new memes and drawings many years after his first appearance.

Part of that popularity comes from how easily the character can be changed. Artists can alter Pepe's face or place him in a new situation while keeping him immediately recognizable.

Pepe has also spread far beyond his original comic. The character has appeared in digital art, fan drawings, stickers, animations, social media posts, and countless meme formats.

This long online history has made Pepe an interesting subject for people who enjoy internet culture as well as those simply looking for a funny coloring page.
